Introduction

Summary

A free and open source 2.5 D football manager game. Customize your footballing world, choose your settings, and climb to the top.

Inspirations

Heavily inspired by the FIFA (now known as EA Sports FC) game series and Football Manager, this game will focus mostly on a manager career mode where the players manages a club and attempts to bring or keep them at the top.

Both FIFA and Football Manager have their charm and this game will borrow a lot of ideas especially around player systems, league systems, etc but will differ visually. This game will attempt to mirror the older games and follow a more retro feeling with the world being 2.5 D and more pixel art

2.5 D: A common term to mean a 3D world where 2D (or flat) characters exist. In this game, the stadiums and environment will be 3D but the screen will be pixel art

FIFA will be the inspiration behind actual gameplay inside the matches and football manager will inspire the UI systems and more in depth details about the gaming world.

Player Experience

The name of the game here is replay ability. Of course, players will be able to change the football world entirely due to customization but even before that, any single football world made by the player should be fun to replay over and over. This means no two saves should be exactly alike and should feel unique and fun. Even once the player’s team is top of the world, the game should still feel challenging. The growth (climb to the top) and being at the top should both feel equally fun.

Platform

This game is planned to be made for both PC and Mobile with the goal that the two platforms have all the same features. This of course isn’t super realistic but the first release of the game will have both as equal as possible. At the beginning, the game will be released on both itch.io and Steam
